Chalets in Courmayeur are rarer than you’d think, and the twelve below are the ones worth booking for a ski week or a summer on Mont Blanc’s Italian side.

Courmayeur sits at the foot of Mont Blanc in Italy’s Aosta Valley, at 1,224 m (4,016 ft). It has a cobbled pedestrian center, a cable car into the ski area and the Skyway Monte Bianco climbing toward the summit glaciers.

It’s the Italian answer to Chamonix, with better coffee and a longer lunch.

Free-standing private chalets are scarce here, so the twelve below mix the real thing with chalet hotels and chalet apartments: wood, balconies, fireplaces and Mont Blanc out the window. Each entry says who it suits, whether children and pets are welcome, and how close it is to a lift.

TL;DR

The best chalet hotel in Courmayeur is Chalet Plan Gorret, rated 9.3 across 400 reviews, with a big garden and a restaurant. For a chalet apartment in the center with a free spa, book Residence Le Grand Chalet, 100 m (328 ft) from the main cable car.

Chalet or chalet hotel?

Most places called a chalet in Courmayeur are chalet-style hotels or apartments in chalet buildings. Private chalets for a whole group are few, so book those first.

Where in Courmayeur

Stay in the center for the cable car and the restaurants, in Entrèves or La Palud for the Skyway Monte Bianco, or in Val Veny to wake up facing the mountain.

Book early

Christmas, New Year and February half-term fill first for winter 2027, and the places with a fireplace and a garden go before the rest.

Are There Really Chalets in Courmayeur?

TL;DR: Yes, but not many. Courmayeur has a handful of private chalets and chalet apartments, and a larger choice of chalet-style hotels built in wood and stone with balconies and mountain views.

Courmayeur grew up as an old Alpine village rather than a purpose-built resort, so most people live in stone houses and apartment buildings, not standalone wooden chalets. That’s why some ski agencies will tell you there are none at all.

The good news is that the ones that do exist are lovely, and the chalet hotels give you the same fireplace-and-balcony evening with someone else cooking dinner. If you’re a group that wants a whole house, book early and book first.
