CAMI DE RONDA: COSTA BRAVA SOUTH TOUR: 8-DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Sant Pere Pescador

Your journey along the Camino de Ronda Costa Brava South begins with a transfer from Girona to Sant Pere Pescador, a charming fishing village known for its coastal beauty.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet with our local guide for a welcome briefing, where you’ll receive all the details for your adventure ahead.

Day 2: Hike From Sant Pere Pescador – L’Escala

Start your hike with a scenic walk along the beach, before heading inland on the GR92 trail, passing through peaceful rural landscapes with canals and remnants of the ancient Aiguamolls wetlands.

Along the way, you’ll reach the Empúries Ruins, home to one of the largest Greek and Roman settlements on the Iberian Peninsula—well worth a visit!

From here, you’ll continue to L’Escala, va ibrant coastal town known for its beautiful beaches, fresh seafood, where your comfortable hotel awaits.

Hiking Details: Distance 18.5 km (11.5 miles), Ascent 40m (131 ft.), Descent 105m (345 ft.).

Day 3: Hike From L’Escala – Torroella de Montgri

Today’s route along the Camino de Ronda Costa Brava South takes you from L’Escala into the stunning Montgrí Massif, following the GR92 trail.

You’ll begin your hike along the coast, passing secluded coves and rugged cliffs near Punta Ventosa, where the dramatic views make this one of the most breathtaking sections of the Cami de Ronda.

From here, the trail turns inland, leading to the Montgrí Castle, a perfect panoramic viewpoint with sweeping vistas of the Pyrenees, the Mediterranean, and the Empordà flatlands. After soaking in the scenery, descend to Torroella de Montgrí, a charming medieval town with a rich history, lively squares, and stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. You’ll stay here tonight.

Note: A shorter route is available.

  • Hiking Details: Distance 21.4 km (13.3 miles). Ascent 620 m. (2,034.1 ft.) Descent 590 m. (1,935.7 ft.).

Day 4: Hike From Torroella de Montgri – Begur

You’ll hike through the Natural Park of Montgrí and the Medes Islands, surrounded by a mix of coastal and river landscapes.

You’ll follow the Ter River until it meets the sea, then continue along the long golden beach of Pals, where the Mediterranean stretches endlessly before you.
The final stretch takes you inland to Begur, with a rewarding climb to this picturesque hilltop medieval town with a historic castle, cobbled streets, and breathtaking views of the Costa Brava, making it a perfect place to unwind after a day on the Cami de Ronda.

Hiking Details: Distance 18.2 km (11.3 miles). Ascent 290 m. (951.4 ft.) Descent 125 m. (410.1 ft.)

Day 5: Hike From Begur – Calella de Palafrugell

cami de ronda costa brava south hiking in spainYou’ll experience one of the most scenic and diverse sections of the Camino de Ronda Costa Brava South, where the trail takes you through Mediterranean forests, untouched coves, and dramatic coastal paths with breathtaking sea views.

Along the way, you’ll pass through the charming seaside villages of Tamariu and Llafranc, before arriving in Calella de Palafrugell, a picturesque fishing village known for its whitewashed houses, colorful boats, and lively waterfront atmosphere.

  • Hiking Details: Distance 14.6 km (9.1 miles). Ascent 535 m. (1,755.3 ft.) Descent 695 m. (2,280.2 ft.)

Your day ends in Palamós, a vibrant coastal town with a historic fishing port, a bustling fish market, and the option to visit the Fascinating Fishing Museum.

  • Hiking Details: Distance 11.2 km (7 miles). Ascent 320 m. (1,049.9 ft.) Descent 350 m. (1,148.3 ft)

Day 7: Hike From Palamos – Sant Feliu de Guixols

Along the way, you’ll pass through picturesque seaside towns before arriving at Sant Pol Beach in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

This charming coastal town is known for its golden beaches, historic Benedictine monastery, and lively seafront promenade.

It’s the perfect place to relax and celebrate the end of your Camino de Ronda Costa Brava South adventure.

Hiking Details: Distance 14.2 km (8.8 miles). Ascent 124 m. (406.8 ft.) Descent 40 m. (131.2 ft.)

The Camino de Ronda South is avaiable with departures from March 1st to June 30th and from Sept 1st to Nov 1st

Please ask us for departures in July and August.

HOW TO ARRIVE

The closest airports are Barcelona and Girona. Your tour includes a free transfer from either the Girona train station or Girona airport to your hotel in Sant Pere Pescador. 

**If you travel by car, we also offer a free transfer service from Sant Feliu de Guixols to Sant Pere Pescador.
