Which Slovenia Hiking Tour Is Right For You?
All three tours below appear in the dropdown on the form. If this is your first multi-day hike in the Julian Alps, the Juliana Trail and Alpe-Adria route is the gentlest way in, and you sleep in a hotel most nights. If you want a guide and a small group, that’s the Guided Hiking in the Slovenian Alps. If you want to sleep high in the mountains, that’s Mountains & Lakes.
| Slovenia tour | Guided? | Length | Distance | Total ascent | Difficulty | Where you sleep | Season | Price per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best of Juliana Trail and Alpe-Adria Trail, Slovenia (Self-Guided) | Self-guided | 8 days, 6 hiking days | 86 km (53 miles) | 2,490 m (8,170 ft) | Moderate | 6 nights in 3 and 4-star hotels, 1 night in a mountain hut, in a private room where one is available | May to October | €1450 (2026 price, 2027 prices coming soon) |

2027 Departure Dates for Guided Hiking in the Slovenian Alps
The guided tour runs on seven fixed dates, with a maximum of eight hikers on each. Pick the one you want on the form and we’ll check it’s still open. The two self-guided tours don’t work this way: you choose your own start date.
| Departure | Dates | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | July 3rd to 10th, 2027 | Long days, wildflowers still out, fewer hikers than August |
| 2 | July 10th to 17th, 2027 | Long days, wildflowers still out, fewer hikers than August |
| 3 | July 17th to 24th, 2027 | Reliable high-summer weather on the ridges |
| 4 | August 7th to 14th, 2027 | Warmest water in Lake Bohinj for a swim after the hike |
| 5 | August 21st to 28th, 2027 | Still warm, and the August crowds are thinning |
| 6 | September 4th to 11th, 2027 | Clear air, quiet trails, the first color in the valleys |
| 7 | September 11th to 18th, 2027 | The quietest week of the season on the Seven Lakes |
Private departures can be arranged between July and September if none of these dates work. Ask on the form and we’ll see what’s possible.

How Paying For Your Slovenia Hiking Tour Works
A 20% deposit secures your place when you book, and the balance is due 60 days before your tour starts.
- Prices are per person in a double or twin room: €1450 for the Juliana Trail and Alpe-Adria Trail tour and €1010 for the hut to hut tour (both 2026 prices), and €1990 for the guided tour (2027).
- Your own room, hiking with others: €480 on the Juliana Trail tour, €220 on the hut to hut tour for the three hotel nights, and €390 on the guided tour for the five hotel nights.
- Hiking on your own: the solo supplement is €1020 on the Juliana Trail tour and €570 on the hut to hut tour. On the guided tour there’s no solo supplement: our partner matches you with another hiker of the same gender to share a twin, and only if there’s nobody to match you with is the €390 room supplement added.
- Travel insurance isn’t included. Use our Travel Insurance Finder to compare policies for the trip you’re planning.

Who Runs Your Slovenia Hiking Tour
We’ve partnered with a Slovenian company to run all three of these tours. They’re based in Slovenia, they check these routes on the ground, and the guide on the guided tour is Slovenian too.
Once you send this form, they’ll answer your questions and you’ll book directly with them. It’s the same way our Dolomites tours work. It also means more of your money stays in the valleys you’re hiking through.
