Is Söll a Good Place to Stay in the Wilder Kaiser?

TL;DR: Yes. Söll is the best place to stay in the Wilder Kaiser for skiers who want après-ski and for families in summer, because the gondola from the village goes straight up to the Hexenwasser trail and into the SkiWelt ski area.

The Wilder Kaiser region is four villages along the valley below the Kaiser mountains: Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going. Söll is the westernmost, closest to Kufstein and the Inn valley, and the one with the most going on after dark.

The Hexenwasser gondola runs from the valley to Hochsöll, where the Hexenwasser trail has Kneipp pools, water stations and barefoot paths for children in summer. From there, another lift carries on to the summit of the Hohe Salve at 1,829 m (6,001 ft). In winter the same lifts take you into the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, one of the largest ski areas in Austria.

Down in the village there’s the Ahornsee, a small lake with sunbathing lawns, and a summer program of weekly evening events and a Bergdoktor festival. Our Wilder Kaiser summer guide and Wilder Kaiser ski guide cover all four villages.
