How to Get to Menaggio Without a Car
TL;DR: Menaggio has no train station. Take the train from Milano Centrale to Varenna, about an hour, and the ferry across to Menaggio, or take the bus from Como, which takes about an hour along the western shore.
If you arrive by train, the ferry is how you reach Menaggio. Navigazione Laghi, the state ferry operator, runs the boats between Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Cadenabbia, the busiest and most frequent crossing on the lake, so once you’re at Varenna station the last leg is short and pretty.
The bus from Como runs up the western shore through the villages and stops in the center of Menaggio. It’s cheaper than a taxi and a good option if you’re flying into Milan Malpensa and heading to Como first.
If you’re driving, Menaggio is the easiest town in the middle of the lake to park in. The Victoria, the Grand Hotel Menaggio, the Royal and the Loveno all have free parking, the Adler, Foresteria and Piazza del Lago have private parking, and the Bellavista has a garage.
