Love monkeys and other primates? Join me for a fun interactive online experience learning about primates from the comfort of your home.
In this online experience offered through Airbnb, you’ll virtually travel to rainforests all over the globe. You’ll learn fun facts about gorillas, lemurs, chimpanzees, orangutans and monkeys you’ve never even heard of. Plus, I’ll share heartwarming stories of some of the monkeys I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
What You’ll Do in the Online Primate Experience
Find out what characteristics all primates have. And you’ll meet the world’s smallest and largest primates. Not to mention the strangest looking and the smelliest.
You’ll learn how to identify an Old World Monkey from a New World Monkey. And a nocturnal primate from a diurnal one. You’ll also find out how to identify when a primate is happy and not happy. It’s not as easy as you think!
Listen to the alarm calls of vervet monkeys and try to guess what dangers the monkeys are trying to warn you about.
You’ll also hear the heartwarming personal stories of primates I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. You’ll meet Pavel, an old marmoset at a sanctuary which I volunteer. Then we’ll travel to Madagascar to meet Brigitte, a lemur who teaches us the power of friendship. Plus you’ll find out why enrichment is so important for primates in captivity, like Alison, a Japanese macaque that I volunteer with.
And you’ll get love lessons from monkeys and apes. Yes, they do a thing or two to teach us about love.
You’ll learn why primates do not make good pets, even the really small ones. And finally, what you can do to help them.
Expect lots of laughs and interaction in this live interactive workshop about primates. It’s both entertaining and educational. Perfect for all ages.
By participating in this experience you’re helping primates. €1 from every participant will be donated to a primate organization to support primate welfare/conservation.
You can also book this experience for a private group. That way you’ll get a more customized experience featuring your favourite primates or focusing on a topic of your choice. Great for kids, adults or team building.
Meet Your Host Who Loves Monkeys (Well All Primates) 🙂
I’m Laurel and I’ve been observing primates in the wild and in captivity for almost 20 years. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Primatology, have taught educational programs about primates, done observational research on gorillas at the Calgary Zoo, and volunteer with primates at a sanctuary in Munich, Germany. I also offer tours to Madagascar to see lemurs and will soon be offering trips to Rwanda to see gorillas. Both trips have a primate conservation focus.
I’ve also researched howler monkeys in the jungles of Belize, volunteered with chimpanzees at a sanctuary in Spain. And I’ve observed countless primates in the wild including gorillas, lemurs, chimps, macaques, spider monkeys, capuchins and many more.
My passion for primates and love for monkeys is contagious. I’m currently writing a book about what we can learn from primates. I’ve also founded The Primate Connection to help improve the lives of primates. Follow me The Primate Connection on Instagram if you love monkeys and other primates as much as I do.
